Learning Together: The 2026 Nepal International Volunteer Program
Learning across languages begins with getting to know one another.

In August 2026, a 12-member international volunteer team from National Chengchi University traveled to Nepal to work with local schools on educational and cultural activities.
The team served at Falong School on August 1–2 and at Balkanyan School from August 4–12. Working in two different school environments gave the volunteers an opportunity to adapt their teaching to local classroom settings and students' needs.
Learning Beyond Textbooks
The program included mathematics lessons, art and card-making activities, university subject-sharing sessions, and sports.
Firsthand volunteer accounts describe how teachers, students, and volunteers navigated language differences through translation, demonstrations, questions, and hands-on activities. Students contributed their own ideas and creative work, making learning a shared experience.
On August 7, the group also visited the International Mountain Museum, giving students an opportunity to explore geography and the natural world beyond the classroom.

Working Alongside Local Schools
Local teachers and school administrators played an important role in making the program possible. At Balkanyan School, the school supported the volunteers in planning and delivering their activities.
According to the Society's official meeting record dated August 16, 2026, the program recorded 210 service attendances at Falong School and 683 at Balkanyan School. These are service counts, not the number of unique students reached.
Relationships That Continue
A short volunteer program cannot address every educational challenge. It can, however, contribute to longer-term cooperation between volunteers, schools, and communities.
The experience created opportunities to exchange knowledge and learn from one another. Taiwan Mother Hen Society will continue working with local partners to explore meaningful ways to support education over time.
