Growing Through Education and Community Partnership

Taiwan Mother Hen Society believes meaningful change grows from continued learning, human connection, and cooperation with local communities.

Beginning with children's education in Nepal, our work has expanded to include digital learning, women's empowerment, community health, and cultural exchange. Each area has its own activities and partnerships, but they share a common principle: listening to local needs and working together to create opportunities that can continue over time.

01 | Children's Education

Helping Children Learn, Explore, and Grow

Education is about more than textbooks and examinations. It also happens through questions, creative activities, shared experiences, and everyday encouragement.

Taiwan Mother Hen Society works with schools and education partners in Nepal to support learning opportunities and access to educational resources.

In August 2026, an international volunteer team from National Chengchi University participated in classroom activities and cultural exchange at two schools in Nepal. The program included lessons, art, sports, and opportunities for students and volunteers to learn from one another.

We also value the relationships connecting children and their supporters. Handmade cards and student artwork offer meaningful ways for children to express themselves and take part in that exchange.

02 | Digital Learning

Opening New Doors Through Digital Skills

Basic digital skills can make a meaningful difference in how people learn, communicate, and access information.

Our work includes supporting opportunities for children and adults in Nepal to become more familiar with computers, basic applications, and digital tools.

Photographs from adult English and computer classes in 2024, alongside more recent activities involving children and volunteers using laptops, reflect the value of learning at different stages of life.

We continue exploring educational resources, volunteer support, and equipment partnerships that can respond to local needs.

03 | Women's Empowerment

Valuing Skills, Traditions, and Lived Experience

Traditional crafts represent more than practical skills. They carry family knowledge, cultural identity, and the experiences of the people who practice them.

Taiwan Mother Hen Society documents and explores opportunities for exchange around women's craft skills, including weaving and bag-making.

In an interview about traditional weaving in Nepal, a craftsperson described learning from her mother and carrying that knowledge into her own working life. Her story highlights the importance of listening to local women and understanding the traditions behind their work.

We aim to continue learning from local craft workers and partners, while exploring thoughtful ways to support skills and cultural continuity.

04 | Community Health

Supporting Well-Being Through Local Cooperation

Community health is closely connected to education, family life, and opportunities for well-being.

Our health-related work has included collaboration on screenings, health education, school activities, and exchanges with local healthcare professionals and community organizations.

The Go Kapilvastu 2025 initiative brought together local partners and volunteers for community health and educational activities.

In 2026, the Society was also invited to participate in a community blood donation and health event organized by partners in Hemja.

We recognize that short-term initiatives cannot replace established healthcare systems. Our approach is to learn from local needs, work alongside existing organizations, and document our activities responsibly.

05 | Cultural Exchange

Discovering New Perspectives Through Shared Experiences

Learning extends far beyond the classroom. Museums, libraries, community activities, and cultural encounters offer opportunities to discover the world in different ways.

Through educational visits, international volunteer activities, and local cooperation, Taiwan Mother Hen Society supports experiences that encourage curiosity and mutual understanding.

In September 2026, students joined an educational visit to the Annapurna Natural History Museum and a local library in Pokhara, exploring the natural environment and learning resources around them.

For us, cultural exchange is not a one-way experience. It is an opportunity to listen, share knowledge, appreciate local perspectives, and build lasting connections.
