【Public Health Education】Seeing the Invisible Secrets: Germ Theory and Handwashing Workshop with Massachusetts General Hospital
Date: May 23, 2026
Location: Nepal
Participants: A researcher from Massachusetts General Hospital, local students
Education isn't just about textbook knowledge; it's a practical power to protect oneself and change the future! On May 23rd, we had the great honor of inviting a researcher from Massachusetts General Hospital to bring an engaging "germ theory" hygiene education class to the children. In addition to teaching about the types of germs and their transmission routes, the course included an exciting "UV light detection" practical session that led to constant gasps of surprise from the kids. Through a special lotion and UV light, the children "saw" the invisible germs remaining on their hands with their own eyes. After going through the proper steps of washing hands with soap, everyone witnessed firsthand the process of the germs disappearing. Through this fun scientific experiment, proper public health and handwashing concepts have taken deep root in the children's hearts.
